What We Believe
ABOUT GOD
There is one true God. He has revealed himself as having always existed without any outside
cause or agent bringing Him into being (Isaiah 43:10). He is Creator of heaven and earth
(Genesis 1:1), and the One who redeems, saves, or rescues mankind from sin and its painful
consequences (Is. 43:11). God has further revealed himself as a single Being (Deuteronomy
6:4) consisting of three interrelated persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19,
Luke 3:22). This concept of one God, one Being of three persons is called the Trinity.
ABOUT JESUS CHRIST
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father; He too is without beginning or
end (Revelation 1:8). In order to complete His earthly sacrificial mission, He became human
by being born of a virgin, conceived by the Holy Spirit (Matt. 1:23; Luke 1:31,35). Jesus lived
a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by
dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin
and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again someday to earth to reign as
King of Kings, and Lord or Lords. Matt. 1:22,23; Is. 9:6; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14,
15; 1 Cor. 15:3,4; Romans 1:3,4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14; Titus 2:13.
ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT
The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to
make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He lives in every Christian from the moment
of salvation. The Bible teaches that not only do we live, as Christians, by the Holy Spirit’s
power, but as Christians we are to live the Spirit-filled lifestyle. Being or becoming Spirit-filled
is not a one-time experience. The Spirit- filled lifestyle is a daily surrender to the Lordship of
Jesus Christ, it is the yielding of your will to His will. With the Holy Spirit comes the power to
BE a witness, power for victorious Christian living and productive service. It also provides the
believer with specific spiritual gifts for effective ministry. 2 Cor. 3:17; Jn. 16:16:7-13, 14:16,17;
Acts 1:4-11, 2:4,42,43, 8:12-17, 10:44-46, 11:14-16, 15:7-9.
ABOUT THE BIBLE
The Bible is God’s Word to us. It was written under the supernatural guidance of the Holy
Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired
by God, it is the truth without any mixture of error. 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20,21; 2 Timothy
1:13; Psalm 119:105, 160, 12:6; Proverbs 30:5.
ABOUT HUMAN BEINGS
People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. People are the
supreme object of God’s creation. Although mankind was created good and upright, mankind
by willful choice, ignored God’s instructions, and chose to engage in what they knew was evil
and wrong. As a result, mankind fell from innocence and goodness and thereby incurred not
only physical death but also spiritual death. Gen. 1:26,27; 2:17; Psalms 8:3-6; Romans 3:23,
5:12-19.
ABOUT SALVATION
Salvation is God’s free gift to us, but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by
self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of
forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. When we turn from our self-ruled life
and turn to Jesus in faith, we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus
Christ into his life by faith. Romans 6:23; Eph. 2:8,9; John 14:6, 1:12; Titus 3:5; Galatians
3:26; Romans 5:1.
ABOUT ETERNITY
People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin,
or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God
is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places of
eternal existence. John 3:16, 14:17; Romans 6:23, 8:17-18; Rev. 20:15; 1 Cor. 2:7-9).
ABOUT SANCTIFICATION
Sanctification is an act of separating ourselves from evil and identifying with things that are
good, upright, and morally pure. It is a process that takes place as you devote yourself to
God (Romans 12:1,2; 1 Thess. 5:23; Hebrews 13:12). Scriptures teach the initial ‘act of’ the
‘process of’ and the ‘means of’ sanctification. We are sanctified the moment we receive Christ
as Lord and Savior. However, the Bible tells us that we are continually being sanctified as we
follow Christ, “bring forth fruit that is consistent with repentance. Let your life prove your
change of heart.” (Matt. 3:8 Amp. Bible). The means of sanctification is the Holy Spirit and
the Word of God. Only God can make man holy, however there must be on the part of the
believer the pursuit of holiness. The Bible teaches a holy lifestyle, and the Holy Spirit will
enable you to live this way. 1 Cor. 1:2, 30; Romans 8:13, 12:1,2; 1 Thess. 5:23; Phil. 2:13;
Heb. 12:14; Gal. 5:22.
